There will be six (6) Schools of Instruction for the Post Officers:

Saturday, June 30, 2007, there will be a School of Instruction held at VFW Post #92 in Lower Burrell, PA, for the Posts in the Western Part of the State, which is comprised of the following districts: 19, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29.

Sunday, July 29, 2007, there will be a School of Instruction held at the Hotel Carlisle for the Posts in the Central Part of the State.

We are trying to bring the School of Instruction to your area so the Post Officers can attend. Some of the topics to be discussed are: membership, VFW programs, duties and responsibilities of post officers and also parliamentary procedure. The Post Officers should carefully study and fully understand the principles of the organization since it is their duty to enforce its laws, rules and rituals. There should be 100% attendance for all posts in the state which means there should be at least one person attending from each post in the state. If the Post Commander cannot attend, the Sr. Vice Commander should attend, if the Sr. Vice Commander cannot attend, the Jr. Vice Commander should attend. If you are unable to attend the School in your area, maybe you can attend the School in another area. This is a must training and I am requesting you make every effort to attend.

The importance of everyone attending is immediately apparent by being present and having your questions answered at once. It is also a chance for you to meet the State Officers that have been elected or appointed for the term of 2007-2008. Your presence will help show me that the State of Pennsylvania wants to continue its leadership role in the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

I realize it may be a hardship on all of you to take a day out of your busy schedules after just recently spending time at the State Convention. This training is necessary for all Post Officers and by attending you will obtain valuable data that will help the Veterans of Foreign Wars to become a much improved organization. After this meeting you will be able to function with confidence in your ability to perform your required duties.

You are aware that the leaders get the credit for whatever is right and the blame for whatever is wrong. Please attend this School of Instruction so you will always get the credit. When the School is completed, you will have a framework for a successful year and awareness that you are a key member of Commander Getz’s “Building Veterans Future” 2007-2008 term.

Refreshments will be served at all sessions at no cost to you.

We must have your response in regard to attendance at the School of Instruction as soon as possible.
