To All VFW Posts and Officers –

Veterans of Foreign Wars National Headquarters is challenging every Post to put together teams to get facetime with lapsed members who have expired and members who will be coming due in the next few months. This event will take place February 17-19. Get out and knock on the doors of your members in hopes to collect 2016-2017 membership dues and help us make 100% membership as a National Organization for the first time in 24 years!

Your recruiting teams will run into members who will say “my dues haven’t expired.” Be prepared to explain a few things. The VFW Commander-in-Chief will be testifying before the House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committee on 01 March 2017. Inform your members that “By paying dues prior to this date, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States will have a stronger voice on Capitol Hill. Now, more than ever, the size of our membership is important.”

Posts can use Unpaid, Prior Unpaid and Relocated Reports. Please make sure Post leadership knows to login to www.vfw.org scroll down to “More Member Services.” They can then access the “Reporting” tab on the left of the screen, click on “Unpaid/Expiring Report” and choose which report they would like to run (Department at Large, Relocated, Prior). Small Posts or those without unpaid or many members to work, please fill out the attached shotgun mailer list attached and submit to [email protected] in the Membership Department. As always, if anyone needs help in brainstorming ideas or has questions/concerns contact the VFW National Membership Department at 1-888-JOIN-VFW.

As a Post, you are able to contact your Department and request the information on the DAL and Relocated list. Using post query on www.vfw.org Posts can pull unpaid and prior unpaid list to use during door knock campaign. If you need assistance contacting your Department, please contact the Membership Department and we will be happy to provide you with that contact information.

This effort is critical to the future of all combat zone and hostile fire pay veterans. Members will be much more likely to renew their memberships if they know about the outstanding advocacy work being done in Washington, D.C. by the VFW to protect their interests. Please participate in this important campaign.

CIC Duffy will be asking State Commanders for their report on the results of this campaign at the Commanders meeting in Washington D.C. in at the end of February. Please contact State HQs at (717) 234-7927 to report your activity with this project or email your activity and results to [email protected]

  1. Edward Denk says:

The VFW should go back to December 31st as the date for renewals. This current format is very confusing and frustrating for the Quartermaster. Continueling to check the roster and send out renewal cards or letters takes a lot of extra time. Quartermaster VFW Post 740.
